This is the entry point for electronic submission to the upcoming Annual Meeting of the Midwestern Psychological Association. You can speed up your use of this site by doing a little preparatory work.
This year all submissions must be done electronically. Electronic submissions have worked well in the past and they greatly
reduce the cost and time required to review submissions. Furthermore, electronic submission makes it possible to cut and
paste the information required for the program book. This not only saves considerable time but also cuts down on the number
typographical errors that result from scanning or retyping this information. If you have special needs and are unable to submit your abstract electronically, you may contact Maureen Wang Erber, the Program Moderator, at MPA2008@neiu.edu
Please note that the deadline for submission of abstracts is Nov. 1, 2008. Late submissions will not be reviewed.
Next, once you log onto the electronic-submission page, there is a 60-minute time limit for entering all requested
information. You will avoid being constrained by this time limit by having the two required abstracts (one 400-word abstract
to be considered by the Program Committee; one 50-word abstract to go into the Program Book if your paper is accepted)
typed into files in your word processor, ready to cut and paste into the appropriate boxes on the electronic submission form.
Please note the following formatting requirements for these abstracts:
400-word Abstract for Committee Review: The name(s) and institution(s) of the author(s) must not appear on the abstract since these are reviewed blind.
The following form should be used, including the headings:
A. Title:
B. Area:
C. Problem or Major Purpose: The Committee finds it helpful to have the paper put in context, perhaps even with references.
D. Procedure: State the rationale, design, controls, size and characteristics of the sample, and statistical tests employed.
E. Results:
F. Conclusions and implications.
It is important that you provide adequate background information in the form of references and names of investigators or theories to help reviewers evaluate your abstract. The blind reviewing process does not permit reviewers to determine the background on the basis of the author(s) names(s).
50-word Abstract: A short abstract not to exceed 50 words is also required. If your paper is accepted for the program, this abstract will be inserted directly into the program book, so proofread it carefully.
Our new submission site has been prepared by APA. One of the advantages of this new system is that we can link to APA membership information, if you are an APA member. However, you can submit to MPA regardless of APA membership status.
In order to access the Submission Page, you must enter your valid APA username and password combination into the boxes below. Your 8-digit APA membership number without the hyphen is your username. Your password will be your last name, all lower case. If you do not remember your APA username and password, please create a new account. You will be able to continue using that account.
USERNAME: 87654321
PASSWORD: lastname
If you are not an APA member, click the new account link below the sign in box. When you are ready to submit your paper, enter the username and password below and fill out the submission form.
Please note that, once you have submitted your abstracts you will be able to view and edit them (and delete them if desired) until the submission site is closed on November 2.
